1912-S Barber Dime
The 1912-S Barber Dime had a total mintage of over 3.4 million coins struck at the San Francisco Mint. This coin features the popular ‘S’ mint mark on the bottom of the reverse of the coin. The 1912-S Barber Dime features a much smaller mintage than the 1912-P and 1912-D Barber Dime and also commands a higher premium than the other two. That being said, it is still relatively easy to find this coin in circulated and Mint State grades.
History of the 1912-S Barber Dime
The 1912-S Barber Dime is a beautiful coin that is typically well-struck with excellent detailing. Past issues sometimes showed weakness on Lady Liberty’s hair above her forehead and on the leaves on the bottom of the wreath, but this year of issue doesn’t seem to have the issue. Charles Barber designed the Barber Quarter and the Barber Half Dollar. The design on this coin features a right facing profile of Lady Liberty on the obverse wearing an olive branch crown with a ribbon, and a headband with “LIBERTY” inscribed on it. The reverse of the coin features a wreath of corn, oak and maple leaves, and wheat, and frames the word One Dime.
1912-S Barber Dime Value
The 1912-S Barber Dime value reaches upwards of $21,000 for some of the highest grades available of the coin. In MS66 and above, this coin becomes a rarity and will command a premium. The 1912-S Barber Dime is a beautiful and sought after coin that would make a valuable addition to any Barber Dime series collection.
