1908-D Barber Dime

1908-D Barber Dime

The 1908-D Barber Dime had a total mintage of over 7.4 million coins struck at the Denver Mint. This coin is relatively easy to find and obtain in most grades, including Mint State. Many of the Barber Dimes were most accessible in MS63 and MS64, and this one is similar, although a few superb pieces still exist and can be found for relatively affordable prices.

History of the 1908-D Barber Dime

The 1908-D Barber Dime is worth cherrypicking to find a well-struck coin with overall great eye appeal. This coin usually features a strong strike, and it also has a unique quality of different positions of the “D” mint mark that can be found on the bottom of the reverse of the coin. Charles Barber also designed the Barber Quarter and the Barber Half Dollar. The design on this coin features a right facing profile of Lady Liberty on the obverse wearing an olive branch crown with a ribbon, and a headband with “LIBERTY” inscribed on it. The reverse of the coin features a wreath of corn, oak and maple leaves, and wheat, and frames the word One Dime.

1908-D Barber Dime Value

The 1908-D Barber Dime value reaches upwards of $5,000 for some of the highest grades of the coin available. This is a relatively accessible price compared to the costs of some of the other coins in the series. It is worth the effort to find this coin with a sharp strike and attractive surfaces. The 1908-D Barber Dime would make an excellent addition to any Barber Dime series collection.
