1907 V Nickel
The 1907 V Nickel had a total mintage of over 39 million coins. This was even higher than the previous year's mintage which had broken all records for the coin. As the 1907 V Nickel pushes 40 million coins, it offers an opportunity for collectors of all types to pick and choose what quality and price they’re willing to offer up for these beautiful specimens. This is the 2nd largest mintage of the entire series and any nickel to date, up to the point of it being struck.
History of the 1907 Liberty Head Nickel
Although the 1907 Liberty Head Nickel has one of the highest mintages in the series, it isn’t any more common than other coins in the series. It is available in most grades up to about MS66, although Mint State 67 isn’t impossible to find, but will require careful searching. Charles Barber designed the V Nickel and the other Liberty Head coins. The obverse shows the popular left-facing liberty head surrounded by thirteen stars. Fully struck stars are difficult to find across all issues of the V Nickel in the series. The reverse shows the Roman numeral V at the center framed by a wreath. The ear of corn on the left side of the wreath is another potential weak strike spot.
1907 V Nickel Value
The 1907 V Nickel value reaches upwards of $20,000 for the highest grades available. The luster on these coins is typically crisp and bold and it’s possible to find ones with beautiful toning. The 1907 Liberty Head “V” Nickel would make an attractive addition to any Liberty Head series and the coin has great overall eye appeal.
