1902-O Morgan Silver Dollar

The 1902-O Morgan Silver Dollar was struck at the New Orleans Mint. Many of these coins were not very common, but were slowly released from various vaults during the 1950s and 1960s. It wasn’t until the Philadelphia Mint vault was unsealed in 1962 that hundreds of thousands of 1902-O Morgan Silver Dollars came onto the market. Worn corns are slightly scarce, but they hold their value more than some other worn coins, yet the prices are still lower and in less demand due to the availability of the Mint State 1902-O Morgan Dollar.

The 1902-O Morgan Silver Dollar is common and more readily available in lower Mint State. The New Orleans Mint was not known for their high quality craftsmanship. The 1902-O Morgan Dollar stayed true to this reputation with many of the coins being poorly struck, with more flatness at the centers of the reverse. The luster of the 1902-O Morgan Dollar is typically more greasy looking. Cherrypicking is highly advised, and with some careful effort, it’s possible to find a well-struck, lustrous 1902-O Morgan Silver Dollar that is more affordable than some of the others in the series.

The 1902-O Morgan Silver Dollar is readily available in Mint State condition at affordable prices.
