1895-O Barber Dime

1895-O Barber Dime

The 1895-O Barber Dime is a key date within the Barber Dime series. It has one of the smallest mintages in the series at only 440,000 coins struck at the New Orleans Mint. This coin features the popular and sought after ‘O’ mint mark on the bottom of the reverse of the coin. Although the mintage is very small, this is the third most common coin in the series. Most of the certified examples of this coin are in circulated grades, and uncirculated grades are very scarce.

History of the 1895-O Barber Dime

The 1895-O Barber Dime is a valuable coin that is very difficult to find in the highest Mint State grades, if any of them exist. This is a sought after coin due to the low mintage. The Barber Dime is part of the Barber coinage era. Charles Barber also designed the Barber Quarter and the Barber Half Dollar. The design on this coin features a right facing profile of Lady Liberty on the obverse wearing an olive branch crown with a ribbon, and a headband with “LIBERTY” inscribed on it. The reverse of the coin features a wreath of corn, oak and maple leaves, and wheat, and frames the word One Dime.

1895-O Barber Dime Value

The 1895-O Barber Dime value reaches upwards of $58,000 and up for some of the higher Mint State grades available on the market today. Circulated coins are relatively easy to come by when it comes to this coin, and Mint State coins are much scarcer. The 1895-O Barber Dime would make an excellent addition to any Barber coin series collection.
