1894-O Barber Dime

1894-O Barber Dime

The 1894-O Barber Dime had a total mintage of just 720,000 coins. It was struck at the New Orleans Mint and features the ‘O’ mint mark at the bottom of the reverse of the coin. New Orleans and San Francisco minted coins typically commanded a higher price as well as more interest than some of the other mints. The 1894-O Barber Dime is one of the scarcer coins in the entire series, and can be difficult to find in both circulated and uncirculated grades.

History of the 1894-O Barber Dime

The 1894-O Barber Dime is a valuable coin that can be hard to come by for many collectors. If you do come across this coin, it’s well worth adding any grade to your collection. The Barber Dime is part of the Barber coinage era. Charles Barber also designed the Barber Quarter and the Barber Half Dollar. The design on this coin features a right facing profile of Lady Liberty on the obverse wearing an olive branch crown with a ribbon, and a headband with “LIBERTY” inscribed on it. The reverse of the coin features a wreath of corn, oak and maple leaves, and wheat, and frames the word One Dime.

1894-O Barber Dime Value

The 1894-O Barber Dime value ranges upwards of $37,000 for some of the higher Mint State grades. It’s possible to find this coin in lower grades at lower prices, but still difficult to find in most grades, uncirculated or otherwise. Although this coin is scarcer than some of the others in the series, it’s not the most expensive one. The 1894-O Barber Dime would make an excellent and valuable addition to any Barber coin series collection.
