The 1887-S Morgan Silver Dollar was struck at the San Francisco Mint. Many of these coins were released into circulation and are relatively easy to find in circulated grades. It is also believed that many of the 1887-S Morgan Dollars were stored uncirculated at the San Francisco Mint. In the 1940s and 1950s, many of these uncirculated coins were distributed and sold off at face value with 1000 $1 coins per sealed bag. Many of the Mint State coins have bagmarks due to being stored for long periods of time and coming into contact with other coins.
