1878 CC Morgan Dollar

1878-CC Morgan Dollar

Coins with a Morgan Silver Dollar mint mark of CC (Carson City) bring a level of excitement to collectors. The 1878-CC Morgan Silver Dollar is a highly valued coin, even more so than dollars minted in Philadelphia, San Francisco, and New Orleans that have a similar or equal rarity. The 1878-CC Morgan Dollar slipped into commerce relatively quickly after minting, and mostly went unnoticed by collectors at the time. It wasn’t until this coin caught the attention of numismatists that they realized there were very few uncirculated coins available, and few had them up until about 1910 when a few limited quantities came on the market.

Many of the Mint State 1878-CC Morgan Dollars that were uncirculated (circulated are a little harder to come by) are lustrous with extensive bagmarks. They are typically very well struck.
