The First Spouse $10 gold coins have been produced since the passing of the Presidential $1 coin act. The First Spouse coins were from 2007 and ended in 2016. There is another scheduled to release this year for Mrs. Bush, the wife of President George H.W. Bush. There is a coin for each first lady from Martha Washington who served as first lady in 1789-1797, to soon having a coin for Barbra Bush.

The obverse of these coins features portraits of each first spouse, their name, their term served, and the mintage year. Each coin had a unique reverse that was relevant to the the specific First Spouse who was on the front. The ideas came from the first spouse’s life work and accomplishments. All the reverse designs were accompanied by “United States of America”, “E Pluribus Unum”, “.9999 Fine Gold”, “$10”, and “ ½ oz”. Some presidents served without a first spouse by their side. If they did then the obverse depicted Lady Liberty. This happened unless the president wife passed away.

First Spouse Gold coins were minted from 2007-2016 and will be minted again in 2020. They were all minted at the West Point. Each coin has a diameter of 26.49mm and weight of 15.5g. Furthermore, each coin contains .5 troy oz of gold, and is composed of .9999 fine gold. Their face value is $10.
