2021 marked the 35th anniversary of the American Eagle coin program, and the new designs made their debut on these coins during the middle of that year. The Gold coin's design was created by Jennie Norris, a designer within the U.S. Mint's Artistic Infusion Program (AIP), and brought to life through the skilled craftsmanship of Mint Medallic Artist Renata Gordon. On the obverse, the original design by Augustus Saint-Gaudens received enhancements, adding intricate details to enrich this iconic image. Meanwhile, the reverse now portrays a bold and close-up depiction of an eagle.
