Collect a Silver Eagle that was unknown for years! This 2017 Silver Eagle was actually minted at the Philadelphia Mint, instead of the usual West Point Mint. Silver Eagles are not typically minted outside of the West Point Mint, so the discovery of this Philadelphia minted portion of the 2017 mintage was an incredible find, thanks to the Freedom of Information Act.
Only by identifying Silver Eagles from certain serial numbers could their origins be traced back to the Philadelphia Mint. The Only "P" mint years for regular Silver Eagles were 2015, 2016, 2017, 2020, 2021, 2024, and 2025! Think about how many 2017 Monster Boxes were opened before people knew to look for the Philadelphia serial numbers. PCGS can only authenticate the (P) from a sealed Monster Box of 500 Silver Eagles. Around 18 million business strike Silver Eagles were struck in 2017 across all 3 mint locations, so the quantity made in Philadelphia is far fewer. This mintage was also half of the 36 million struck in 2016! This is a great opportunity to own a coin that was never supposed to be known about at an incredible price.
This 2017 (P) Silver Eagle also boasts a perfect MS70 grade from PCGS, as well as the First Day of Issue pedigree which certifies that it was sent to PCGS for grading after being purchased on release day. What sets this coin apart however is the Thomas Cleveland signed label. Cleveland is one of the original Master Designers from the US Mint’s Artistic Infusion Program (AIP), who is perhaps best known for his design of the 2007 Platinum Eagle coin. Only around 119 of these 2017 (P) Silver Eagles exist in PCGS MS70 signed by Thomas Cleveland across these two labels. Secure this underrated rarity for your collection today!
