Add this one of a kind 25th-anniversary edition Silver Eagle to your coin collection. This 2011-W Silver Eagle production skyrocketed to a total of 947,355, the third-highest mark in program history.

American Silver Eagle History

In the years following their 20th anniversary, the United States Mint celebrated its American Silver Eagle coins in the year of 2011. On the 25th anniversary of the coin’s introduction, the mint produced two versions of the coin with two proofs. This all came in addition to making some major changes in production from preceding years.

Background

In response to a record-breaking demand for the 2011 American Silver Eagle coin, the US Mint increased the number of suppliers it operated within that year. On top of improving the coining process and production lines, these coins were also struck at the San Francisco Mint for the first time since the year 1998. The US Mint created two different versions of the burnished coin, the standard W-burnished coin, and the additional S-burnished coin. The standard W-burnished coin was available to purchase individually, while on the other hand, the S-burnished coin was made available only in a collector’s set.
