Any Silver Eagle minted from 2007 and prior are considered by many to be the "Type 1" Silver Eagle. After the year 2007, the U.S. Mint made modifications to the reverse of the coin and refined its details. This means that 2007 is the very last Silver Eagle that still has the original reverse design.
