1995 $50 American Gold Eagle
The 1995 1 oz American Gold Eagle had a total mintage of just over 200,000 coins struck at the Philadelphia Mint. These uncirculated, regular strike coins didn’t display a mint mark like their Proof siblings. Although this is a relatively small mintage, especially in comparison with the first years of production of the Gold Eagle, as well as compared to other coin collections, it’s possible to find the 1995 $50 American Gold Eagle in most Mint State grades, even all the way up to a perfect 70 grade.
History of the 1995 $50 American Gold Eagle
When looking for your ideal 1995 American Gold Eagle 1 oz coin, seek out one with a sharp strike and great overall eye appeal. These coins were heavier than some and that could sometimes cause nicks and blemishes. This coin is the official gold bullion coin of the United States. The obverse of the American Gold Eagle was designed by Augustus Saint Gaudens, and features an image of the full-length Lady Liberty with her hair flowing and a long dress. She holds a torch in her right hand and an olive branch in her left. There is a small image of the Capitol building in the background. The reverse of the coin was designed by sculptor, Miley Busiek. It features a male American Bald Eagle clutching an olive branch, flying over a nest with a female eagle and her baby.
1995 $50 American Gold Eagle Value
The 1995 $50 American Gold Eagle value reaches upwards of just under $3,000 for a perfect Mint State 70 grade, which is relatively affordable. The American Gold Eagle series, while beautiful and valuable, can be found at more affordable prices in lower Mint State grades. The 1995 1 oz American Gold Eagle would make an excellent addition to any Gold Eagle series collection.
