Enhance your collection with this snapshot into the past! A silver certificate was a form of paper currency issued by the United States government that could be exchanged for a specific amount of silver. In 1963, the U.S. Treasury announced that Silver Certificates would no longer be redeemable for silver dollars or bullion as the nation discontinued the silver standard for currency. Despite this change, the certificates retained their face value as legal tender, allowing them to be exchanged for Federal Reserve Notes at any bank. This shift marked the end of an era for Silver Certificates, but their historical significance and numismatic value continue to be celebrated by collectors and enthusiasts today.

This incredible set combines a 1957 A $1 Silver Certificate and a 1957 US Proof Set in its original packaging. The blue seal indicates that the $1 1957 note was a silver certificate as opposed to the red seal used on standard currency at the time. It is in breathtaking museum-quality condition. The Proof Set includes a Lincoln Cent, Jefferson Nickel, and a 90% Silver Roosevelt Dime, Washington Quarter, and Franklin Half Dollar! It is also sealed with the iconic Philadelphia Mint token. We acquired this hoard from an old coin shop owner who had an affinity for 1957 dated pieces, so we are sharing this amazing find at a fantastic price. Enhance your collection with this vintage silver set today!
