1935-S Peace Dollar

1935-S Peace Dollar

Many of the 1935-S Peace Dollar bags were released to banks in 1949 and 1950 from the San Francisco Mint. The coins showed little sign of handling and would later be considered gems. At the time, the 1935-S Peace silver dollar wasn’t on many collectors’ radars, so many of the bags went into circulation.

History of the 1935-S Peace Dollar

Some believe that many bags came on the market in San Francisco in the 1960s, and trickled out into circulation over a period of time. Two different reverse variations of the 1935-S were minted at San Francisco, one with a die with 3 rays, and one with a die with four rays. These two variations were only on the 1935-S Peace silver dollars at the San Francisco Mint. Few collectors hope to have one of each, and each appear to have similar availability on the market.

1935-S Peace Dollar Value

The 1935-S Peace silver dollar value is relatively affordable and stable. There are plentiful 1935-S Peace dollars on the market, and, in mint state, many of these coins are well struck, and are very attractive with a satiny luster. A collector shouldn’t have any trouble finding a 1935-S Peace dollar of a high grade for their collection.
