1932-D Wheat Penny

1932-D Wheat Penny

The 1932-D Wheat Penny had a total mintage of 10.5 million from the Denver Mint. The 1932-D Wheat Penny is an attractive coin, and is very desirable in the highest Mint State grades among collectors. This is one of the more difficult coins to find from the 1930s Wheat Pennies. When looking for this coin, it’s best to look for a sharp strike, and attractive surfaces. The Denver Mint was notorious in previous years for having a weaker strike, and it is well worth doing some searching for a beautiful specimen.

History of the 1932-D Wheat Penny

The 1932-D Wheat Penny is more affordable, especially considering it is more sought after. Although finding one of these pennies in the highest Mint State condition would command much higher prices. The Wheat Penny was designed by Victor David Brenner. President Theodore Roosevelt wanted to prepare new coin designs that had more artistic merit. He chose Brenner based on a plaque he created with Lincoln’s profile. The Wheat Penny depicts a bust and profile of Abraham Lincoln on the obverse, with the D mint mark under the date. The reverse features two stalks of durum wheat.
