1929 Mercury Dime

1929 Mercury Dime

The 1929 Mercury Dime had a total mintage of just under 26 million coins struck at the Philadelphia Mint. This is a relatively large mintage that makes this coin easy to find even in the highest Mint State grades, as well as circulated grades. Due to the plentiful nature of the 1929 Mercury Dime, it’s also possible to find these higher grades at affordable prices, adding value to a beautiful coin.

History of the 1929 Mercury Dime

The 1929 Mercury Dime is a worthwhile coin to cherrypick and find with a sharp strike and attractive surfaces. It’s possible to find Full Band versions in the highest Mint State grades at lower premiums than other coins in the series of the same rank. The Full Band version features fully struck and distinctive bands at the center of the fasces on the reverse of the coin. The Mercury Dime depicts Lady Liberty wearing a winged cap on the obverse of the coin. The designer, Adolph A. Weinman designed the reverse to show a fasces, an olive branch, and an ax. As is the practice with regular strike coins at the Philadelphia Mint, this coin didn’t feature a mint mark.

1929 Mercury Dime Value

The 1929 Mercury Dime value ranges between $2,400 and $8,600 for some of the highest Mint State grades documented. It can be found all the way up to MS68 in the Full Band version and the price is great for such a beautiful specimen. The 1929 Mercury Dime would make a great addition to any Mercury Dime series collection, and should be relatively easy to find.
