History of the 1929 Indian Head Gold Coin

The 1929 Indian Head Gold Coin was designed by Bela Lyon Pratt. It features the profile of a Native American in headdress surrounded by 13 stars representing the 13 colonies. The reverse showcases the standing bald eagle over a bundle of arrows and clutching an olive branch in its talon. This coin can usually be found well-struck with attractive surfaces, although some show signs of the die buckling or deteriorating. The coloring is usually a rich yellow gold with a greenish tint, which was common with certain coins in the series. The luster is typically very good to excellent.
