1925 Mercury Dime
The 1925 Mercury Dime had a total mintage of just over 25.6 million coins. This coin was struck at the Philadelphia Mint and is relatively common and easy to find in some of the highest Mint State grades. There are Mint State and Full Band versions of the Mercury Dime, with the latter commanding higher prices. A Full Band is designated when the fasces on the reverse, the group of rods held together by bands, features full separation between the two central bands at the center.
History of the 1925 Mercury Dime
The 1925 Mercury Dime can be found well-struck with a brilliant luster. Cherrypicking is advised to find your ideal coin, and it should be possible to find this coin all the way up to MS67 with careful searching. The Mercury Dime has a simple, memorable design created by Adolph Alexander Weinman who also designed the Walking Liberty Half Dollar. The obverse of the coin features a young Lady Liberty wearing a winged cap that signifies “liberty of thought.” The reverse of the coin depicts a bundle of rods wrapped together, with an olive branch around it and battle ax behind it.

The 1925 Mercury Dime value reaches upwards of around $1,000 for the highest Mint State grades, and upwards of $45,000 for the highest grades of the Full Band versions. It’s worthwhile to find this coin with a sharp strike and attractive surfaces. The 1925 Mercury Dime would make an excellent addition to any Mercury Dime series collection.
