Enhance your collection with a special half dollar remembering an American hero! The Grant Memorial Commemorative Half Dollar was struck in 1922 to commemorate the 100th Anniversary of President Ulysses S. Grant. A celebrated General, he fought in the Mexican—American War and was a critical figure in the Union's victory in the Civil War. He later served two terms as President of the United States of America, solidifying Grant as a legendary figure in American history.

The Coinage Act of 1922 allowed for 250,000 Grant Memorial Silver Half Dollars to be struck to raise funds and awareness for the The Ulysses S. Grant Centenary Memorial Association's efforts to preserve Grant's boyhood home as a historic landmark. The coin was designed by Laura Gardin Fraser and features a portrait of Grant on the obverse and his childhood home in Ohio on the reverse. Fraser was married to James Earle Fraser, who famously designed the popular Buffalo Nickel—talk about a talented couple! This 1922 Grant Half Dollar was struck with 90% silver, and is in Almost Uncirculated condition. This is an exceptional way to collect a lesser-known piece of American numismatic history!

Highlights:

  • Almost Uncirculated condition
  • 90% silver half dollar
  • Commemorating Grant's 100th birthday
