The 1919-S Walking Liberty Half dollar is a rare and coveted coin in the Walking Liberty series. It is rare in all circulated grades and coveted by collectors of this series. The name of the coin series comes from the image of Lady Liberty walking with a flag and rising sun behind her. Adolph Weinman won a Commission of Fine Arts competition and was then commissioned to design the silver half dollar and dime. This was not his first design as his other prior designs were rejected. It bears the mint mark “S” under In God We Trust on the face of the coin to indicated that it was struck at the mint in San Francisco.
