The 1914-D Indian Head Gold Coin is the third rarest coin in the entire series. It had a total mintage of 448,000 coins struck at the Denver Mint. While this coin has a larger mintage than the 1914 Indian Head Quarter Eagle, it still commands a somewhat comparable price for the highest grades of the coin. It’s easier to find this coin in lower Mint State grades up to about MS63 and then they drop off significantly. It is believed that top grade 1914-D Indian Head Gold Coins are underrated which makes this coin even more valuable for the collector.

The 1914-D Indian Head Gold Coin is worth cherrypicking to find a sharply struck coin. Sometimes the coin is softly struck on the feathers of the headdress on the obverse, as well as the eagle’s leg and wing on the reverse. This is a valuable coin that can be found with great overall eye appeal, a coppery gold coloring on many, and very good to excellent luster. This coin features the ‘D’ mint mark on the reverse which adds value to the coin because there aren’t many within the series that were struck at the Denver Mint.
