1904 Barber Dime
The 1904 Barber Dime had a total mintage of over 14.6 million coins from the Philadelphia Mint. This coin is a plentiful one thanks to the higher mintage, and can be found in most circulated and uncirculated grades up to a certain point. Most of these coins don’t exceed MS67, and the majority land in lower grades. When searching for the 1904 Barber Dime, it’s worth cherrypicking to find well-struck coins with great overall eye appeal.
History of the 1904 Barber Dime
The 1904 Barber Dime is typically well-struck, as is usually expected from the Philadelphia Mint. It’s believed that this year of issue used dies that had outlived their life expectancy and left some of the coins with weak strike spots which is all the more reason to look carefully. Charles Barber also designed the Barber Quarter and the Barber Half Dollar. The design on this coin features a right facing profile of Lady Liberty on the obverse wearing an olive branch crown with a ribbon, and a headband with “LIBERTY” inscribed on it. The reverse of the coin features a wreath of corn, oak and maple leaves, and wheat, and frames the word One Dime.
1904 Barber Dime Value
The 1904 Barber Dime value reaches upwards of around $6,000 for some of the highest grades of the coin available. While higher grades command a small premium, it’s possible to build a Barber Dime collection by seeking out circulated and nice lower Mint State grade coins. The 1904 Barber Dime would make an excellent addition to any Barber Dime series collection.
