1896 Barber Dime

1896 Barber Dime

The 1896 Barber Dime had a total mintage of exactly 2 million coins. They were struck at the Philadelphia Mint. These Barber Dimes that were struck at the Philadelphia Mint didn’t feature a mint mark like counterparts at San Francisco, New Orleans, and other mints. The 1896 Barber Dime is a common coin that can be found in in some of the highest grades without a lot of difficulty.

History of the 1896 Barber Dime

The 1896 Barber Dime is typically well-struck with an appealing luster. Even the highest grades of this coin are more affordable than many in the series and are worth the investment. The Barber Dime is part of the Barber coinage era. Charles Barber also designed the Barber Quarter and the Barber Half Dollar. The design on this coin features a right facing profile of Lady Liberty on the obverse wearing an olive branch crown with a ribbon, and a headband with “LIBERTY” inscribed on it. The reverse of the coin features a wreath of corn, oak and maple leaves, and wheat, and frames the word One Dime.

1896 Barber Dime Value

The 1896 Barber Dime value ranges to upwards of fifteen thousand dollars for some of the highest grades of the coin available. The 1896 Barber Dime is a beautiful coin that would make an excellent addition to any Barber Dime coin series collection.
