1895 Barber Dime

1895 Barber Dime

The 1895 Barber Dime had a very small mintage for this Philadelphia minted coin with only 690,000 total coins struck. This was the first time since 1881 that the coins struck at the Philadelphia Mint fell below 1 million coins. The 1895 Barber Dime had one of the smallest mintages out of the entire series, and even with its smaller mintage, it’s possible to find this coin in Mint State condition with relative ease.

History of the 1895 Barber Dime

The 1895 Barber Dime is extremely rare in the highest Mint State grades. In mid-range grades, it’s relatively easy to find a nice example to add to your collection. The 1895 Barber Dime commands a higher price than many of the others in the series, and this is possibly due to the low mintage and value that it brings. The Barber Dime is part of the Barber coinage era. Charles Barber also designed the Barber Quarter and the Barber Half Dollar. The design on this coin features a right facing profile of Lady Liberty on the obverse wearing an olive branch crown with a ribbon, and a headband with “LIBERTY” inscribed on it. The reverse of the coin features a wreath of corn, oak and maple leaves, and wheat, and frames the word One Dime.

1895 Barber Dime Value

The 1895 Barber Dime value reaches upwards of $46,000 and up depending on the grade of the coin. It’s possible to find this coin in a range of prices, with circulated coins typically being the most affordable. The 1895 Barber Dime is a valuable coin that would make a great addition to any Barber Dime series collection.
