1893 Barber Dime
The 1893 Barber Dime had a total mintage of just over 3.3 million coins. This coin was struck at the Philadelphia Mint, which was the only mint in this series that didn’t leave a mint mark. This coin had a higher mintage than some of the few that had under a million coins minted, but it can still be difficult to find in some of the highest grades, and will command a premium if found in those grades.
History of the 1893 Barber Dime
The 1893 Barber Dime is the second year this coin was minted, and is a valuable coin in the early history of the Barber Dime. Cherrypicking is advised and possible to find a well-struck coin with a nice luster and details. The Barber Dime is part of the Barber coinage era. Charles Barber also designed the Barber Quarter and the Barber Half Dollar. The design on this coin features a right facing profile of Lady Liberty on the obverse wearing an olive branch crown with a ribbon, and a headband with “LIBERTY” inscribed on it. The reverse of the coin features a wreath of corn, oak and maple leaves, and wheat, and frames the word One Dime.

The 1893 Barber Dime value can reach as high as $17,000 for the higher grades of this coin, although it is difficult to find in the very highest Mint State grades. The Barber Dime is a unique coin that is part of the Barber coin series. The smoother the coin, the more worn it is.
