Could a Rare “July 4th” Privy Quarter Be Hiding in Your Roll?

The hunt is officially underway for one of the most exciting circulating rarities of America’s 250th anniversary!

Rolled by the U.S. Mint’s official processing and distribution network.

The U.S. Mint produced only 250,000 limited-edition 2026 Declaration of Independence Quarters featuring a special “July 4th” privy mark beside Thomas Jefferson’s portrait. These quarters were released randomly into circulation and, unlike the standard Philadelphia and Denver issues, carry no mint mark. With such a tiny quantity entering the nation’s coin supply, finding one has quickly become a major prize for collectors.

NGC even offered a $2,500 cash bounty for the first qualifying example submitted for certification. That bounty has now been claimed by a collector whose discovery graded NGC MS66, but thousands of additional privy-marked quarters may still be waiting to be found.

These Rolls Have Not Been Searched by Us

This is not a roll assembled in our facility. Each roll was prepared through the U.S. Mint’s official coin-processing and distribution network, then secured in a special America 250 color wrapper. Because these quarters were rolled before reaching us, Bullion Shark has not opened, searched or sorted the coins inside.

That means every roll delivers the excitement of a genuine collector hunt. While no particular coin or privy mark is guaranteed, opening an original, unsearched roll gives you the chance to examine each Brilliant Uncirculated quarter for yourself.

What Should You Look For?

The rare version can be identified by two important features:

“July 4th” Privy Mark: Located on the obverse, to the left of Thomas Jefferson’s portrait.

No Mint Mark: The limited privy-marked quarters do not display the standard “P” or “D” mint mark.

The regular Declaration of Independence quarter features Thomas Jefferson on the obverse with the historic dual date 1776–2026, while the reverse depicts the Liberty Bell ringing in celebration of the nation’s founding. The design is a special one-year issue created for the United States Semiquincentennial.
