The Admiral Gardner Shipwreck is a famous wreck for not even leaving England's waters before sinking to its watery grave. In 1809, the East India Company set sail for India carrying 48 tons of newly minted 1808 10 and 20 Cash copper coins. The weather was unfortunately not on their side however, and a fierce pop-up gale ended the ship's journey not even a day after she set sail.
Almost 200 years later, the East India copper coins from the Admiral Gardner wreck began showing up in the sands off the English coast. The 10 Cash pieces are much harder to find, since they tended to be the the most damaged. The details on these coins are incredible considering they were lost at sea for centuries.
