2003-W American Silver Eagle
The 2003-W American Silver Eagle had a total mintage of over 747,000 coins from the West Point Mint. For the Proof coins, this is a relatively common coin in the series, and is easy to find in most grades, including the perfect Mint State 70 grade. Due to the relative ease of finding this coin in most grades, the prices are reasonable as well, and more affordable than many of the others in the series.
History of the 2003-W American Silver Eagle
The 2003-W American Silver Eagle is typically a well-struck coin that can be found in most grades. It has the unique ‘W’ West Point mint mark just below the eagle and olive branches on the reverse of the coin. The design on the obverse of the American Silver Eagle was inspired by the “Walking Liberty” design of the Walking Liberty Half Dollar that was designed by Adolph Weinman. It was one of the most beloved designs of all American coins and was revived for the American Silver Eagle coins. The reverse was designed by John Mercanti. It features the American Bald Eagle behind a shield. The eagle is holding arrows and an olive branch in its talons. Above the eagle are 13 five-pointed stars that represent the 13 original colonies.
