1948-D Washington Quarter

1948-D Washington Quarter

The 1948-D Washington Quarter had an average mintage for the Denver Mint of just under 17 million. This attractive coin is possible to find in Mint State and some of the higher Gem conditions, but it is more rare than the other coins of this same year. The 1948-D Washington Quarter will bring value to the Washington Quarter series collection with an affordable and accessible coin, albeit sometimes more difficult to find for a Post-War era coin.

History of the 1948-D Washington Quarter

The 1948-D Washington Quarter is valuable because of the Denver Mint mark, and because it is slightly harder to find than the other coins of this year. It’s also a valuable coin due to its attractive surfaces and frosty luster, and strike usually isn’t a problem for this date. The Washington Quarter was designed by John Flanagan to commemorate the 200th anniversary of George Washington’s day of birth. His portrait can be found on the obverse of the coin, while the American Bald Eagle clutching a bundle of arrows, flying over an olive branch, can be found on the reverse. This Washington Quarter can be located in uncirculated, Mint State condition, and it is worthwhile to find one.

The 1948-D Washington Quarter value ranges to upwards of just eight thousand dollars for the highest Mint State grades.
