1945-D Walking Liberty Half Dollar
The Walking Liberty silver half dollar is one of the most popular 20th Century coins issued in the US. One of the reasons is the patriotic nature of the coin design featuring a flag-wrapped Lady Liberty. The designer was sculptor Adolph Weinman. His silver half dollar design inspired Americans through two world wars and the roller coaster ride of the Roaring 20’s and Great Depression. Weinman won the commission when he won a Commission on Fine Arts competition. This coin does not have a mint mark. The luster can be a truly spectacular frosty and white.
1945-D Walking Liberty Half Dollar Value, Scarcity, and Key Dates
The 1945-D Walking Liberty half dollar value begins around $9 for a coin that is circulated and in low-grade condition while an uncirculated or higher-grade Walking Liberty silver half dollar can fetch upwards of $35. The Denver mint issued the fewest number of Walking Liberty silver dollars of all mints in 1945. So, the initial number of coins released was smaller. But that doesn’t mean that it is a rare coin. It is almost as common as the 1941 to 1945 Philadelphia Walking Liberty coins. It is readily available in Gem condition. Even in poor condition, the popularity of this coin makes it worth more to a collector of coins than a collector of silver. As popular as this coin is, Walking Liberty half dollar key dates do not include the 1945-D Walking Liberty half dollar.
