1939-S Washington Quarter

The 1939-S Washington Quarter is one of the more popular Washington Quarters in the series and is a sought after semi-key date. It had just over 2.6 million total coins struck at the San Francisco Mint, which was a smaller mintage, adding to the value of these coins. The coins struck at the San Francisco Mint in the 1930s are Washington Quarter key dates to look out for. These coins were the rarest in the series and had some of the lowest mintages. This coin series was designed by John Flanagan. It marked the 200th anniversary of the first president of the United States, George Washington’s birthday.

The Washington Quarters have a portrait of George Washington on the obverse of the coin. The reverse of the coin depicts an American Bald Eagle with its wings spread, and its standing over a bundle of arrows and olive branches.
