History of the 1933-D Wheat Penny
The 1933-D Wheat Penny is a beautiful coin. Cherrypicking is advised to ensure a sharp strike and attractive surfaces because the Denver Mint was notorious for having a weaker strike. The Wheat Penny was designed by Victor David Brenner. President Theodore Roosevelt wanted to prepare new coin designs that had more artistic merit. He chose Brenner based on a plaque he created with Lincoln’s profile. The Wheat Penny depicts a bust and profile of Abraham Lincoln on the obverse, with the D mint mark under the date. The reverse features two stalks of durum wheat.
1933-D Wheat Penny Worth
The 1933-D Wheat Penny value ranges from around $300 to upwards of $13,000 for the highest grade red varieties. The 1933-D Wheat Penny, when chosen carefully, is possible to find with a sharp strike and in higher, uncirculated grades, making it a valuable and attractive addition to any Wheat Penny series collection.
