1926-D Buffalo Nickel

Since the days following the Civil War, the U.S. Mint has produced 5-cent pieces originally known as the “half-disme.” Later, called the nickel due to its metal content, they quickly became a highly popular coin. Though many different types of nickels have been produced over the years, few are more popular than the 1926-D Buffalo nickel. The Buffalo nickel design lends itself to wear and tear more easily, which means finding a high-quality coin is a true treat for collectors.

Uncirculated Coins

Many collectors are on the hunt for uncirculated 1926-D Buffalo nickels. This means the coin was never used in circulation, and current coins can be ordered from the Mint during minting so you can keep your own uncirculated coins. These coins retain their original surfaces with no signs of wear, and still shine bright with mint luster. The points of possible contact and the first to show friction are the Indian's cheek just under the eye and the hip of the buffalo. These coins are hard to find and are worth quite a bit of money.

1926-D Buffalo Nickel Value

Many of the Buffalo nickels produced at the Denver mint hold greater value, and the 1926-D Buffalo nickel is no exception. An average 1926-D Buffalo nickel is valued at around ten dollars. Like many older coins, the value is tied to the condition of the coin. Understandably, coins that have been preserved over the years, or are in mint condition, will sell for a higher price than coins that show a lot of wear. These coins are highly sought after, and rare - a mint condition 1926-D Buffalo nickel is worth almost three-hundred and fifty dollars.
