1913 Barber Dime

1913 Barber Dime

The 1913 Barber Dime had a total mintage of just under 20 million coins struck at the Philadelphia Mint. The Philadelphia Mint didn’t leave a P mint mark on the coins unless it was a proof, which the Barber Dimes didn’t have. This mint was known for its excellent craftsmanship and the 1913 Barber Dime lived up to that standard with most coins being well-struck with great overall eye appeal. Cherrypicking is advised with this coin, and entirely possible, as the 1913 Barber Dime is plentiful in circulated and Mint State grades up to about MS66.

History of the 1913 Barber Dime

The 1913 Barber Dime is a more affordable coin in the series, possibly because it’s difficult to find any coins above MS66. This is possibly due to many of the coins going out into circulation. Charles Barber designed the Barber Quarter and the Barber Half Dollar. The design on this coin features a right facing profile of Lady Liberty on the obverse wearing an olive branch crown with a ribbon, and a headband with “LIBERTY” inscribed on it. The reverse of the coin features a wreath of corn, oak and maple leaves, and wheat, and frames the word One Dime.

1913 Barber Dime Value

The 1913 Barber Dime value reaches upwards of about $3,000 for the highest grades reported as for sale and sold on the market today, making this a very affordable coin within the series. It’s possible to build a more accessible collection by seeking out circulated and lower Mint State grades. The 1913 Barber Dime would make a beautiful addition to any Barber Dime series collection.
