1912-D Barber Dime

1912-D Barber Dime

The 1912-D Barber Dime had a total mintage of over 11.7 million coins struck at the Denver Mint. This coin features the ‘D’ mint mark on the bottom of the reverse of the coin. This is a rather large mintage compared to many in the series and is relatively easy to find in both circulated and uncirculated Mint State grades. The 1912-D Barber Dime is most common in MS63 and MS64, but can be found with some effort in higher grades.

History of the 1912-D Barber Dime

The 1912-D Barber Dime is typically well-struck with great overall eye appeal. Coins struck at the Denver Mint in the past could sometimes have a weaker strike, so cherrypicking is always advised, especially when so many coins are available to choose from. Charles Barber designed the Barber Quarter and the Barber Half Dollar. The design on this coin features a right facing profile of Lady Liberty on the obverse wearing an olive branch crown with a ribbon, and a headband with “LIBERTY” inscribed on it. The reverse of the coin features a wreath of corn, oak and maple leaves, and wheat, and frames the word One Dime.

1912-D Barber Dime Value

The 1912-D Barber Dime value reaches upwards of around $7,000 for some of the highest grades of the coin available. It’s possible to build an affordable Barber Dime collection by seeking out circulated coins and lower Mint State grades. The 1912-D Barber Dime is a valuable coin that can be found at reasonable prices, and would make a great addition to any Barber Dime series collection.
