1903-S Barber Dime

1903-S Barber Dime

The 1903-S Barber Dime had a smaller mintage of just over 613,000 coins struck at the San Francisco Mint. This smaller mintage makes this a popular issue date among collectors. While it has the smallest mintage of all of the coins struck in 1903, it is also one of the most commonly graded coins in higher Mint State examples. These coins are possible to find all the way up to MS67, although they are more common to find in MS64 through MS66.

History of the 1903-S Barber Dime

The 1903-S Barber Dime stays true to the coins of this year and features an excellent strike. The luster of the coin is equally beautiful ranging from proof-like to soft and creamy to a hard brilliance. Charles Barber also designed the Barber Quarter and the Barber Half Dollar. The design on this coin features a right facing profile of Lady Liberty on the obverse wearing an olive branch crown with a ribbon, and a headband with “LIBERTY” inscribed on it. The reverse of the coin features a wreath of corn, oak and maple leaves, and wheat, and frames the word One Dime.

1903-S Barber Dime Value

The 1903-S Barber Dime value reaches upwards of $17,000 for some of the highest grades of the coin available. This is a valuable and popular coin within the series and is worth the effort to obtain one. The 1903-S Barber Dime would make an excellent addition to any Barber Dime series collection.
