History of the 1898-O Morgan Silver Dollar
It wasn’t until the big release at the Philadelphia Mint in 1962, that, from the depths of a sealed vault, plentiful piles of the 1898-O Morgan Silver Dollar Mint State coins came cascading out and the price and rarity of this coin dropped as a result. Circulated 1898-O Morgan Dollars are rare and much less plentiful than the Mint State coins, but the commonness of the Mint State coin has driven down the demand and price for the worn coins.
