The Proof Bust Half Dollars were produced at the United States Mint in Philadelphia. During the time these coins were minted, the Philadelphia Mint was the primary and, for many years, the only minting facility for the United States. It wasn't until later in the 19th century that other branch mints began operations in various parts of the country.
