The Barber Half Dollar was minted from 1892-1915. This half dollar was a part of what is know as "Barber coinage." It was the predecessor of the Walking Liberty Half Dollar. The Barber Half Dollar’s design consisted of a right-facing liberty wearing a wreath on top of her head. The reverse features a heraldic eagle. The coin was designed by chief engraver at the time: Charles E. Barber and was named after him. The coin is also referred to as the Liberty Head Half Dollar.
