This coin is a silver Hungarian Denar which features the image of baby Jesus in the arms of Mary. This depiction is known as "Madonna and Child." The reverse of the coin features a shield, which is symbolic of the Hungarian Coat of Arms. These silver pieces were minted in Medieval Hungary from the 1400's to the early 1600s. This is one of the first Hungarian coins to portray such imagery and one of the first to feature a full date. Believe it or not, each one of these coins was hand struck by craftsman, making each piece unique. NGC has certified each one of these coins to be authentic.
