Product Description

Alexander the Great died in Macedonia in 323 BC, bringing an end to his reign of greatness. Ptolemy I then declared himself king of Egypt in 304 BC. The coins struck early in Ptolemy's reign still depicted Alexander in an effort to support their fallen leader. This Bronze Unit is an incredible commemorative relic of one of the greatest conquerors of ancient times!

The obverse depicts Alexander the Great as Heracles, one of the most famous legends of Greek mythology. The reverse depicts Zeus seated on a throne, holding a scepter, with an eagle perched on his right, with a the Greek inscription translating to "Of Alexander." Depicting Alexander both as Heracles and with Zeus shows how even after his death, his people thought very highly of him! This historic relic really belongs in a museum - but at this price it can easily be added to your collection! Make this ancient bronze coin featuring Alexander the Great the talking point of your collection today!
