The Silver Eagle is a classic coin that numismatics everywhere look forward to each year, and this 2021 release is an especially anticipated release! The capacity to produce coins at the West Point mint was miniscule due to the COVID-19 pandemic, so the Philadelphia Mint began production to compensate at the request of the U.S. Mint. The Philadelphia Mint typically does not mint Silver Eagles, so the coins minted in Philadelphia make this 2021 coin even more special. Each coin is PCGS certified as near perfect MS69 with a First Day of Issue distinction. Each is also certified as one of the few coins struck at the Philadelphia Mint by putting a (P) on the label. There is no mintmark on these 2021 Emergency Issues, so only coins from unique Monster Boxes from the Mint have the (P) on the label.
This release is one of the very last "Type 1" Silver Eagles, since the design of the coin is changing in a few months. Additionally, with just 500,000 minted, this coin is one of the lowest mintage Silver Eagles ever! These pieces also have a special Struck at Philadelphia label to commemorate this historic circumstance.
