The West Point Mint shut its doors for a week due to the Pandemic. In the meanwhile, the Philadelphia Mint stepped up to the plate to continue the production of Silver Eagles. A measly 240,000 coins were struck at the Philadelphia Mint during this time, which is much less than the tens of millions minted each year at West Point. NGC has certified each of these coins in GEM Uncirculated condition and has designated them to be one of the 240,000 coins struck at the Philadelphia Mint by putting a (P) on the label as well as "Emergency Production." The coin bears no mintmark, so only sealed boxes of Silver Eagles with special serial numbers assigned by the Philadelphia Mint will ever bear the (P) designation. Own a piece of history today that will never be forgotten! 240,000 makes this coin the second lowest mintage Bullion Strike Silver Eagle after only the 2015 (P) Silver Eagle which today is worth $600+ in MS69 and thousands of dollars in MS70! Considering a MS70 would run you over $200 and a MS69 near $80, these are a steal at $49.95! These also have the Early Releases pedigree, which means that they were delivered to NGC within 30 days of release, which puts these coins in a caliber on their own!
