The Silver Krugerrand was initially made in 2017 by the South African Mint. The obverse of the coin features the first president of South Africa Kruger. The reverse features a antelope which is the country's representative animal. Furthermore, the design for the Silver Krugerrand was taken from the Gold Krugerrand which was initially minted in 1967 and was one of the first gold bullion coins to be issued by a major mint. The Silver Krugerrand is 1 troy ounce of silver and is legal tender in South Africa.
