This 1992-D Columbus Silver Dollar was produced to commemorate the 500th Anniversary of the discovery of the "New World" by Christopher Columbus in 1492. The Mint struck Dollar and Half Dollar for this event. The obverse features Christopher Columbus holding a pole with a banner on top of it. The reverse shows half his sailing vessel as well as half of a spaceship, showing the progress in the last four centuries.
This commemorative had a tiny mintage of just 106,649! AND only 380 were graded MS70! Any Silver Eagle with a mintage that low is worth THOUSANDS, so are these SILVER commemoratives overlooked?
