This Silver Medal was released by the U.S. Mint to commemorate Ben Franklin as the "Founder of Our First Fire Service in 1793." Less than 90,000 of these pieces were released from the mint and very few exist today in such pristine condition. The obverse of the coin features Ben Franklin himself with a Firefighter's helmet. The reverse features a heroic firefighter scaling a ladder. Each of these pieces has been struck on a Silver Eagle blank, which means that it is composed of 1 oz of 99.9% pure silver. This coin has been encapsulated by PCGS in PR69 DCAM condition and has been hand signed by T.D. Rogers the designer of the coin! Just 61 coins exist with his signature!
