1974-D Kennedy Half Dollar NGC MS63- Doubled Die Obverse FS-101
The Kennedy Half Dollar was originally minted in 90% silver for its first year of issue only in 1964. From 1965-1969, they were minted in silver, and each year after that circulating pieces were only clad. This clad Kennedy Half Dollar was minted at the Denver Mint, as indicated by the "D" mintmark.
This piece has been given a great MS63 grade by NGC, of which only 74 exist! What makes this piece unique however, is the Doubled Die Obverse FS-101 error! This means the die was misaligned when striking multiple times, causing a doubling effect. With modern minting technology however, doubled die errors like this are no longer a possibility. That makes this type of error even more rare. Add this rare error to your collection while they're still in stock!
