This stunning bronze medallion was struck to commemorate the 75th anniversary of Granite City in Madison County, Illinois and the 50th Anniversary of Granite City Park. An important milestone settlement during the Industrial Revolution, Granite City was known as the "industrial magnet of the West". The obverse design of this coin celebrates the diamond jubilee with a bucket pouring water in front of a cloud of dust. The reverse celebrates the park, with engravings of the pavillion, a slide, baseball, diving, and a picnic bench.
